Representation of women in music videos

We Are Harlot - The One

The premise of this video is that the band are judging what is called the ‘Miss Behaviour Pageant’. This pageant is highly different to the norm as the contestants are exploiting their sexual desirability in order to sway the panel's opinion in their favour.
Miss demeanour, Miss Anthrope, Miss Chievous, Miss understood, Miss conduct, Miss guided - These are all the names of the contestants in the pageant, the names are a play on words, the titles are a combination of negative adjectives and the classic arrangement of pageant titles (Miss Universe, Miss personality).
These titles are possibly suggesting these titles are attributes of modern women who are often seen as vain and narcissistic. As the contestants’ titles suggest, women in this music video are shown to be self-centred, Misanthropic and highly self-objectifying. one of the oldest stereotypes of women is that they are manipulative and deceitful, this notion is certainly explored in this video.
Another aspect of women that is shown in the video is the idea of women exploiting their sexual desirability or swapping sexual favours in order to make achievements.
